At Farm Yield Africa, we believe agriculture should be an opportunity for all, not a privilege for a few. That’s why we’ve launched two transformative initiatives in 2025 to tackle some of the most persistent barriers facing young people and persons with disabilities in rural Ghana.

The Youth Farm Initiative, also known as the One Youth, One Acre Project, is a practical training and empowerment program that equips young people with the tools to succeed in farming. Each selected young person receives one acre of land, free mechanization services, improved seeds, fertilizer, agrochemicals on credit, and training in basic agriculture, farm business, and record keeping. They also receive post-harvest support and guaranteed market access. After harvest, Farm Yield Africa recovers only the cost of inputs, and the remaining profit goes to the youth. This pilot project is currently underway in our block farm in the Upper East Region, with 10 youth participants. Over the next three years, we aim to reach over 300 young people, proving that farming can be a viable and profitable career path when the right support is provided.

Alongside this, we have launched the Disability Farm Initiative in partnership with the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations. This inclusive program provides persons with disabilities access to cleared farmland, mechanization, inputs on credit, post-harvest support, and a ready market, all under our 360-degree service model. Beneficiaries keep the profit from their harvest after input costs are recovered, creating both food security and income opportunities. In its first phase, the initiative supports at least 15 individuals, with plans to reach over 100 PWDs in the next three years. This initiative is rooted in the belief that disability should not be a barrier to economic participation or self-sufficiency.

These programs are not acts of charity, they are investments in potential. By expanding access to land, tools, training, and markets, we are working to reshape agriculture into a space of dignity, opportunity, and inclusion. We are proud to support the next generation of farmers and leaders who are cultivating not just crops, but change.
